There’s a little bit of Irish in everyone, right? Did you know that corned beef is not considered an Irish national dish, and the connection with Saint Patrick’s Day specifically originates as part of Irish-American culture. Corned beef was used as a substitute for bacon by Irish-American immigrants in the late 19th century. Corned beef and cabbage is the Irish-American variant of the Irish dish of bacon and cabbage.

"At the SRV museum yesterday I found this Brass Door ash tray in the archives, not sure of the vintage but the phone number "VE7 2501" (which is still the correct number today!) dates it pretty far back. Smoking was very much the norm when I was growing up in the 50's, 60's and beyond and most restaurants/hotels/etchad their logos on their ash trays." Mark Harrigan
